Getting Started


The Board of Registered Polysomnographic Technologists (BRPT) is the credentialing board that allows you to obtain a registry as a sleep technologist.


The BRPT has various pathways for those pursuing credentialing as either registered or certified sleep technologists. National School Of Sleep Medicine is offering the Experienced Pathway

Sleep Technologist Course, The Basics

Sleep TecHNOLOGIST Course

The Sleep Technologist Course, The Basics provides training and education on the history of sleep medicine, sleep disorders, sleep studies, and patient care. 


To Become an RPSGT/CPSGT, read the following steps:


1. The course must be completed as the first step toward meeting the by experience pathway requirements, which involves ongoing experience. If you require hand's on experience we recommend the ASTEP 80 HR Introductory Course. 


2. The course concludes with an online final exam. 


After successfully completing the course, students should be able to perform most of the duties specified in the job description for a Polysomnographic Trainee.

During the 4 to 6 weeks the coursework focuses on online classes of preparing patients for sleep studies, acquiring data, and staging and scoring. 



ATTENTION. 

  • Completing Sleep Technician Course, The Basics training course at  National School of Sleep Medicine does not guarantee employment in a sleep laboratory. Job placement is not available through the school, although we advise students during the course on obtaining their first job in sleep medicine.


  • The program has a $1,600 tuition fee. It does not include the cost of the textbook, and materials .


  • The cost of the tuition is NON-REFUNDABLE. 


  • If applicable, students interested in sleep technology courses should check with their respective state medical boards to determine licensing requirements in polysomnography.

Sleep Technologist Course, The Basics is not a Sleep Technology Approved Resource (STAR) status. We are in the process of seeking accreditation for this course.


Completing the Sleep Technologist Course, The Basics in its entirety does not make you certified as a sleep technologist.


Review the state licensure requirements to work in the field of sleep technology.


As an independent self-study program, the Sleep Technologist Course, The Basics does not qualify for use of financial aid or the GI Bill to pay for any part of the program.
